​This page is to celebrate Miniature and Toy Poodles working in the field. My inspiration to start and continue field work came from a book called "God Made But One" by Rufus Cate about his toy Poodle, Duchess' Chocolate Truffles c. 1981. I figured if that little dog could carry birds two and three times her size then my miniature Poodle could certainly do it! So this page is dedicated to Truff - who led the way, and to Percy who took up the challenge.

​Miniature Poodles are allowed to run in North American Hunting Retriever Association tests, pioneered by a multi-titled Canadian Mini, Percy. See: Roslyn D. Beaman, "A Miniature Retriever" (NAHRA News, vol. xiii, no. 3, 1998, p. 7) about her in-size Mini's enthusiastic participation in a NAHRA Started test sponsored in August 1998 by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Hunting Retriever Club. Percy qualified for his Poodle Club of America WC title on June 24, 1999 running second WC test dog at the Mountain Valley Retriever Training Club's WC/I/X test at Alberton, Ontario.  In June 2000 we were fortunate to actually attend PCA and compete at the WC tests where he showed a large gallery, including PCA Board Members, what a little dog could do.  I am very proud of his achievements.  I should add that he was 10.5 years old when he passed the WC after a career of flyball and agility and Superdogs.  [October 17, 1988 - August 11, 2003].  Much thanks to John Hamilton for helping us with this wonderful achievement.
Percy's mega-titled constant companion, also a Mini, Meya, qualified for her PCA WC by running WC test dog at the Mountain Valley Retriever Training Club's WC/I/X test at Alberton, Ontario on 20 July 2000. Percy's and Meya's achievements led the way for the Canadian Kennel Club to change the WC/I/X series rules to allow all "Poodles" to run these tests as of January 2002. Meya picked up her CKC WC on 7 July 2002.

  • SIGMA CHI'S WHITE DELIGHT CKC CD AgN, NAFA FMCH, AAC VMADC and AADC, NADAC EJC, EAC-V, NG-V, AKC AX,PCA WC, Poodle Club of Canada Versatile Poodle, Versatility in Poodles VCX(D) MINIATURE, WHITE(OCT 17, 1988 - AUGUST 11, 2003) Percy qualified for his Poodle Club of America WC title on June 24, 1999 running second WC test dog at the Mountain Valley Retriever Training Club's WC/I/X test at Alberton, Ontario.Percy was the first Miniature Poodle to earn any type of hunting/field title. He participated in NAHRA tests and ran test dog at several CKC WC and Hunt tests until the ripe old age of 13. In fact he qualified at PCA in 2001 at the age of 13 in the WC. Owner: Roslyn Beaman
